Grading Criteria

The University of Pennsylvania has established criteria for earning an A in PLN courses. The following should serve as a guide in helping you make sure that you have fulfilled all requirements to earn the grade you desire.

To earn an A, all written work must be submitted and be of satisfactory quality. For our class, this includes the unit project as well as participation in both wiki discussions, 2 journal assignments and a final reflection that we will do during the final class. If any discussion or journal assignments are missing, the grade will be reduced by a "minus" for each missing assignment. For example, a missing journal assignment would reduce an A to an A-.

Regarding the unit project, the following must be present to earn full credit:
• a well-written, thorough introduction/rationale to the unit, of approximately 1-2 pages in length
• a minimum of 10 distinct lessons, designed to follow the Effective Model of Engagement, and with all 4 lenses present and identified in each lesson
• a minimum of commercial materials such as worksheets; it is appropriate to include photocopies of readings from textbooks and other sources
• some sort of culminating product or activity that assesses the concepts addressed in the unit

Final grades will be submitted on April 1 and work will be accepted up to that date.
